Waking In Darkness

He slowly becomes conscious, feeling the warm embrace of something soft, something huggable. Opening his eyes he realizes it was just a dream. As he rolls off his bed, to a stand, a chill runs up his spine. All he could think about was the dream he had just woken from. It felt almost lucid, the kind of dream you can somewhat control as your fears slowly creep in. His insecurities overwhelming him as he lays in his safety, his bed. He slowly shook his head.

“Nothing more than a thought, let alone a dream.” He let out a long sigh. Slowly tensing and untensing his forearms, the veins and muscles combining in unison, creating the ideal male beauty standard. Moving his elbows back and stretching as he walked over to his mirror, his back muscles becoming clearly obvious. His arms slowly falling to his sides as he looked in the mirror. Looking himself up and down, admiring his own beauty. Confidence peeking until he reached his face. Those cold and longing eyes. Emptiness filled his mind as he faked a smile, keeping his appearance as a strong independent man. While deep inside he ached and longed for happiness, especially from someone else. Looking around his room he found that it was a dark and cold place.

“What darkly painted walls,” he mumbled to himself, “And why is it so cold?!” Letting out yet another sigh, he left his room. Quickly walking back inside his room he had realized something.

Laughing Pluto exclaimed, “How could I forget my daily attire?” Changing into something more suitable he now officially left his room. Walking out of his palace he turned around, admiring the view. Standing in front of the stairs to the entrance of his extravagant but for some reason darky and gloomy palace. The lights were dim and slightly tinted blue while the columns and stairs were made of a black marble. The most elegant pattern that was mischievously drowned out by the dark colour it was painted. With a swift pivot he walked off again to explore his well known domain. He longingly looked for someone to comfort him, for his dreams were not the best and left him in fear of being lonely forever. Shaking his head he ran his fingers through his hair, sighing.

“A long day today will be,” he mumbled under his breath.Taking hurried strides he made his way to Acheron, the river of forgetfulness. After a short while he arrived. He sat at the water’s edge, stretching his arms before they returned to his sides.

“What lucky souls you are.” He frowned while looking at the souls drifting through the river.

“To be able to forget is a dream to me.” He shook his head. Tilting his head back, he looked up at the ceiling of his domain. It was cold and dark to him but in all reality it was warm and humid due to the fires of hell. He slowly stood, plastering a fake devilish smile on his face. He walked along passing Asphodel Meadows and Elysium. Seeing the two vastly different places he opened his mouth, letting out an unsatisfied sigh.

“To have a humble life, or to have a luxurious life full of adventure and fame,” his head hung low, “I just wish to be loved and to have happiness in this world.” A loud crack was heard, it echoed through Pluto’s ears. Turning his head he realized nobody else noticed the loud crack that rung through his ears so Pluto continued on. He quickened his pace as he heard a woman’s concerned voice, her sweet young voice echoing through his ears. Moving towards the entrance he speed walked past Cerberus with a plastered smile on his face. Cerberus let out a low but small growl, seemingly confused much like Pluto himself. Continuing to the entrance of his domain he closes his eyes. The dream keeps bothering him. However, thinking back on his younger days when he was surrounded by happiness and laughing faces his mind began to become clouded. His mind was busy, his actions showing how far gone he was into his mental state of sadness.

“Where did I go wrong?” He groaned to himself. He hurried his pace, arriving at the entrance of his domain.

Hearing the woman again he hooked up his horses to his chariot. He was interested in knowing who this woman was, all he could think about was what she could do for him. His mind was racing. All he could think about is his own benefits, he knew he was being selfish and greedy but he did not care. Quickly getting into his chariot he rode to the surface. The time was short as he came racing out of the hole. Once landing his chariot next to the entrance of the hole he eyed the girl. She was fair and beautiful, exactly what he wanted. After a short conversation of manipulation of the wide eyed girl he grabbed her. He quickly got them into the chariot and he was gone. The chariot disappeared from the sun in the sky and into the depths of his dark domain. He looked like a small child that had just been handed candy, rewarded. He dismounted from the chariot as they arrived just inside of the entrance of his domain. He excitedly led the girl to his palace. Passing by Cerberus the girl seemed slightly uncomfortable, calling the beast hideous. He shrugged it off and continued to lead her to the palace. Unknowingly the girl had signed up for her imprisonment and captivity in this place, she was too excited to realize that this could possibly be her final place of adventure. This was the end of all of her adventures and Pluto had no remorse. He had this giddy smile on his face as they arrived at the doors. He looked over at Persporina, all he could think was “Welcome to your new home!”
